About me
My work
I'm a design lead and senior user experience designer where I am involved in the end to end design process from design conception to execution. I have also enjoyed mentoring junior designers on the team in developing their skills.
For the past decade, I’ve lived and worked in San Francisco bay area, in the heart of Silicon Valley. I worked at a number of tech companies, such as Meta, Adobe, Citrix, Intel / McAfee and Trend Micro.
Early in my career, I was intrigued in applied cognition in psychology. I discovered the field of user experience research and that was when I became fascinated in improving peoples lives by studying how we use softwares. I began my career as a UX researcher where I conducted usability audits on software programs. Wanting to drive more design impact, I evolved my career into interaction design and user experience design, where you will find my approach very methodological and rich in both qualitative and quantitative data.
In this day and age, designers are no longer pushing pixels behind a screen, but we are partners and product owners to the experiences and strategies we drive. I thrive in a collaborative environment and I pride myself of being a great team player. I am a huge believer of 'we are what we build' - so I am invested in building great relationships and improving processes with our product and engineering partners because the way we work takes shape in the end experiences we deliver.
My roots
I was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan before coming to the United States for college as a first generation Taiwanese American. I studied at the University of Washington for college, where I majored in Psychology and English, with a minor in Architecture Studies.
As a result, my design is grounded in the psychology of people where I love to learn about how people use things. Architecture was another mediums that taught me about how human rituals and behavior shape buildings and the spaces we live in.
Being absolutely intrigued in applied cognition and usability, I furthered acquired my Master’s from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in Information, specializing in Human-Computer Interaction.
My true colors
Aside from my day job, I enjoy running half-marathons. Prior to covid in a span of 3 years, I have run 10 half marathons and I am proud to have designed the finisher’s medals at San Francisco Rock n Roll Half Marathon in 2016. I am proud of running those 13.1 miles and being able to wear the medal I designed at the finisher line.
On the side, I also like to challenge myself with design projects that help me grow everyday as a designer. Check out some fun projects I’ve done in the past, like 30 days of food illustrations or 100 days of pattern design.
